Doozo Privacy Policy

This is a translation of the Japanese Privacy Policy. If the two differ, the Japanese version prevails.

This Privacy Policy (“this Policy”) describes how Hiroki Kataoka (“we”) handles information in the iOS app “Doozo” (“the App”). Please read this Policy before using the App.

The App shows only the photos and videos you choose, so that someone you hand your iPhone to cannot move on to photos you did not choose. The App requires no account, and we operate no server that holds your photos or history. On the free plan, the App shows ads (see 2.3).

1. Who We Are

2. Information We Obtain

2.1 Photos, videos, and history — never sent to us

The App shows the photos and videos you choose in the iOS photo picker, and stores each set you showed as “history” on your device. We never receive the photos or videos themselves, which photos you chose, or the contents of your history.

2.2 Purchases

Paid plans are purchased only through Apple’s In-App Purchase. The App checks your purchases with Apple (StoreKit) on your device. We never receive payment details such as card numbers. We use no third-party service to manage purchases.

2.3 Ads

On the free plan, the App shows ads using the Google AdMob SDK (Google LLC). To deliver ads, count impressions, and prevent fraud, information such as the following is sent to Google:

The App does not ask for tracking permission and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). It requests non-personalized ads. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, only limited ads are served, because the App uses no consent management tool.

The ad SDK never reads your photos, videos, or history. We receive only aggregate figures such as impressions and revenue. With a paid plan (No Ads or Doozo Plus), the ad SDK is not initialized and no information is sent for ads.

Google handles this information under its Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

2.4 Usage data (to improve the App)

The App records which features are used (for example, starting a handoff or opening the plans screen), using only predefined event names and values. It sends them with Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC).

Photos, videos, history names, counts, and dates are never sent. No signals for advertising are sent, and the data is not linked to anything that identifies you or to advertising identifiers. You can turn this off at any time in the App’s Settings (Privacy → Share Usage Data). The App uses no crash reporting service, and does not sync your history or photos with iCloud or any other cloud service.

2.5 Feedback and questions

When you send “Feedback and Questions” in the App, only the type you chose (bug, request, or other), your message, the app version, the iOS version, and the device model are sent. Because nothing identifies you, we cannot reply. It is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (Google LLC), and sending goes through Firebase App Check, which confirms the request comes from a genuine copy of the App. It is stored in the Tokyo region (asia-northeast1).

3. How We Use Information

4. Sharing and Service Providers

We never sell or rent information to anyone, and we do not provide it to third parties except as required by law.

We use the following services to provide the App:

Their servers may be located outside Japan.

5. Where and How Long Data Is Kept

6. Your Choices

7. Biometrics (Face ID, etc.)

The lock in Doozo Plus uses your device’s biometrics (such as Face ID) to unlock. Matching happens entirely within iOS; the App never obtains, stores, or sends biometric data. The App receives only whether authentication succeeded.

8. Minors

Minors should use the App with the consent of a parent or guardian.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in law or in the App. We will announce important changes in the App or where this Policy is published.

10. Governing Law

This Policy is governed by the laws of Japan.
