Doozo Terms of Use
This is a translation of the Japanese Terms of Use. If the two differ, the Japanese version prevails.
Established: September 23, 2026 Last updated: September 23, 2026
These Terms of Use (“these Terms”) set out the conditions for using the iOS app “Doozo” (“the App”) provided by Hiroki Kataoka (“we”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. Scope
- These Terms apply to all matters between you and us regarding use of the App.
- Privacy is governed by the separate “Doozo Privacy Policy.”
- Use of the App through the App Store is also subject to Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions and Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA). Where these Terms conflict with them, Apple’s terms prevail for the use of those services.
2. About the App
The App shows only the photos and videos you choose, so that someone you hand your iPhone to cannot move on to photos you did not choose within the App. With the paid plan Doozo Plus, each set you showed is saved on your device as “history” so you can show it again. We operate no server that holds your photos or history.
On the free plan, the App shows ads.
3. Fees and Subscriptions (Auto-Renewing)
- In addition to free features, the App offers these paid plans:
- Doozo Plus: adds the Face ID lock, no ads, no limit on photos at once, videos, saved history, names and pins for history, showing photos one by one, and receiving photos and videos from other apps’ share sheets. Available as monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscriptions or a one-time lifetime purchase (Plus Lifetime).
- No Ads: a monthly auto-renewing subscription that removes ads and raises the number of photos you can choose at once above the free plan. Other limits, such as videos and history, are the same as the free plan.
- The features and photo limits of each plan are as shown on the plans screen in the App.
- All plans are provided through Apple’s In-App Purchase, at the prices shown on the App Store. The lifetime purchase does not renew and has no end date.
- Auto-renewal: a subscription renews automatically and is charged the same amount unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Canceling: you cancel a subscription yourself in the Settings app (your App Store account settings). We cannot cancel on your behalf. After canceling, paid features remain available until the end of the period already started.
- Restoring purchases: after changing devices or reinstalling, use “Restore Purchases” in the App to restore purchases made with the same Apple ID.
- Refunds: refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies.
- Free trial: Doozo Plus (monthly) may include a free trial for new subscribers. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the free period ends, it converts to a paid subscription and you are charged. If you cancel during the free period, you are not charged. Availability follows what the App Store shows.
- After a paid plan ends:
- History is a Doozo Plus feature. When Doozo Plus ends (including expiry, refunds, switching to No Ads, and a free trial that ends without payment), all history, including named or pinned history, and all photos and videos copied into the App are deleted, without confirmation or prior notice. Original photos in the Photos app are never deleted.
- If a renewal fails because of a payment problem, you are treated as a Doozo Plus user during the App Store billing grace period, and history is not deleted.
- If a paid plan ends while the handoff screen is open, the screen keeps working under the plan it was opened with until it is closed.
4. Prohibited Conduct
When using the App, you must not:
- Violate laws or public order and morals.
- Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, reputation, or other rights of others.
- Attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineering, tampering, or other misuse of the App or related systems (except as permitted by law).
5. Disclaimers
- What the App cannot prevent (important): the App keeps people from moving on to photos you did not choose within the App. It does not prevent notifications, going to the Home Screen or other apps, screenshots, or photos taken with another device. When handing over your iPhone, use iOS Guided Access if needed. Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for any resulting damage to you or others.
- The lock: the lock in Doozo Plus relies on your device’s biometrics and passcode, and may be unavailable depending on your device’s settings or state.
- Data loss: history and photos or videos copied into the App are stored only on your device. They may be lost if your device fails or is erased, if you delete the App, when Doozo Plus ends (3.8), or under the auto-delete setting. The App never deletes original photos in the Photos app.
- No warranty: the App is provided as is. We do not warrant that it fits a particular purpose or always works without interruption or errors.
- Limitation of liability: except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for damage arising from using or being unable to use the App. Where mandatory law, such as consumer protection law, does not allow us to exclude liability, this clause applies only to the extent permitted.
6. Intellectual Property
Intellectual property rights in the App and its programs, designs, and trademarks belong to us or their rightful owners. Rights in the photos and videos you show with the App belong to you or their rightful owners.
7. Minors
Minors should use the App, including purchasing paid plans, with the consent of a parent or guardian.
8. Changes to or Discontinuation of the App
We may change the App, add or remove features, or discontinue it. Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for any resulting damage.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may change these Terms when we consider it necessary, and will announce important changes in the App or where these Terms are published.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence apply, those laws prevail.
